Native Vegetation Removal and Planning Permits

Native vegetation removal requires a permit under Clause 52.17 of the Victorian Planning Provisions and relevant local government Planning Scheme in Victoria, or the State Environmental Planning Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation) 2021 and relevant Local Environment Plan (LEP) in New South Wales. DM Ecological is a DEECA accredited native vegetation quality assessor (VQA) and can undertake basic, intermediate, or detailed pathway native vegetation assessments to the satisfaction of Councils and State Government.

Capabilities

  • Native vegetation quality assessments (including detailed pathway assessments) in accordance with the Guidelines for the removal, destruction or lopping of native vegetation.
  • Habitat hectare assessments and vegetation quality data production in accordance with relevant spatial data standards.
  • Production of native vegetation removal (NVR) reports and required additional information (e.g. avoid and minimise statements, offset statements etc.).
  • Undertake Index of Wetland Condition Assessments.
  • Liaison with Council statutory planning and environment staff, DEECA natural environment program officers, and DEECA native vegetation regulations team to coordinate planning permit application requirements.
  • Review and recommendation of applicable exemptions to requiring a planning permit.
  • Due diligence and feasibility assessments to minimise impacts to native vegetation.
  • Prepare and lodge planning permit applications to satisfy Clause 52.17.
  • Prepare Review of Enviornmental Factors (NSW).
  • Prepare Threatened Species Tests of Significance (NSW)
