DM Ecological is operated by Dylan McWhinney. Dylan has a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Wildlife and Conservation Biology) and has >14 years’ industry experience as an environmental consultant. Dylan has expertise in environmental impact assessment, preparation of assessment reports and management plans, planning and approvals, and on-site construction environmental management, enabling him to offer a complete project service to clients.
OUR MISSION
Providing clients with expert assessment and advice to identify and mitigate potential environmental impacts associated with their projects from inception, through development, and into operations.
Ensuring that clients are provided with best practice environmental surveys and assessments, to provide them with the required information and management outcomes required to facilitate approvals at the local, state, and federal level. DM Ecological has a focus on keeping projects on time and within budget and not only minimising environmental harm but contributing to environmental and community outcomes.

Dylan holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Wildlife and Conservation Biology) and has >14 years’ industry experience as an environmental consultant. Dylan has expertise in environmental impact assessment, preparation of assessment reports and management plans, planning and approvals and on-site construction environmental management enabling him to offer a complete project service to clients.
An experienced wildlife ecologist providing expert monitoring of native flora and fauna as well as pest species. Dylan has designed and implemented targeted surveys for many threatened species, including matters of national environmental significance (MNES).
Dylan is an accredited native vegetation quality assessor (VQA), which enables the delivery of habitat hectare (detailed pathway) assessments to identify native vegetation offset requirements in accordance with state guidelines. Experienced in construction and project delivery, Dylan can provide appropriate recommendations to avoid and minimise your projects impact on native vegetation whilst maintaining project feasibility and intended outcomes.
Dylan is an experienced science and environmental communicator enabling him to engage stakeholders, contractors, and the public effectively to achieve educational and best practice outcomes. Dylan has acted in advisory roles to local councils, and coordinates assessments and approvals with State and Federal Government department staff.
Dylan is a member of the Environmental Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) and is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) as administered by the institute. This certification gives clients the assurance in his knowledge, experience, quality of work, and ethical conduct, giving his clients and regulatory agencies confidence in his assessments and recommendations.
